Sri Lanka’s March Tourist Arrivals Cross 100,000 in Just Two Weeks

Sri Lanka’s tourism industry continues its upward trajectory as it surpassed 100,000 tourist arrivals within the first two weeks of March 2025. According to the latest provisional data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), a total of 97,232 international visitors arrived in the country within the first 13 days of the month, marking a significant 14.72% growth compared to the 84,755 arrivals recorded during the same period last year.

The daily average arrival rate currently stands at 7,480 visitors daily, demonstrating a steady influx of travelers. The highest single-day arrival was observed on March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day, when 9,073 tourists entered the country. This surge highlights Sri Lanka’s increasing appeal as a preferred destination for international travelers.

Top Tourist Markets

The latest data reveals that Sri Lanka continues to attract visitors from key global markets. The top five source countries for arrivals in March are:

  1. India – 14,848 visitors (15.3% of total arrivals)
  2. Russia – 13,217 visitors (13.6%)
  3. Germany – 9,083 visitors (9.3%)
  4. United Kingdom – 8,845 visitors (9.1%)
  5. France – 7,109 visitors (7.3%)

Sri Lanka’s Tourism Growth Strategy
